About Us

Metropolis Mercantile + Cafe is a one-of-a-kind experience in the heart of downtown Newmarket.

We feature two cafes on two floors that are designed for uniquely different experiences while offering the same great menu choices. Our specialty coffees and teas will not disappoint and our sandwich, wrap and salad selections are great any time of day. We have an on-site bakery where all our desserts and pastries are created for the ultimate enjoyment. Our signature cinnamon buns are a must try!

Metropolis is on our lower floor and features modern decor with tables for socializing as well as dedicated work stations for remote workers. It's great for larger groups and can be accessed from Main Street or from the free municipal parking lot at the back. Metropolis is a favourite amoung cycling, walking and running groups.

Also on the lower floor is our Mercantile + Bodega with locally and Canadian sourced products all hand-picked by our retail experts. Browse our selection of apparel, housewares, books, antiques, jewellery and greeting cards!

The Cabin is on the upper level and has a cozy, rustic Canadiana feel. It's known for it's very chill vibe with casual, social seating, dedicated work stations and window counters that offer a great view of Main Street. There's an accessible entrance with a second patio out front.

Our patios are dog friendly but please, no pups inside per the Ontario By-Laws.
